The One Truth

At the Philadelphia airport waiting to catch my United flight back home. My United iPhone app says the flight leaves from gate D5. So does the computer screen at D5. However, just to keep things interesting, the electronic boards along the walkways all say it will leave from D9.

One would think this information is in one place within the United database, updated there when things change. So how can such differing information be presented to the customers within 15 feet of each other? Apparently they choose to keep information in multiple places.

Why do I suspect there are more than 2 locations for that information within the United database? Because I’ve received text alerts that differ from either directive described above.

Just exactly from how many gates can one flight on one day at one time leave?

If there’s only One Truth, why do they spread so many false clues?
