Case Study I:
CHALLENGE
AND INVIGORATE EXECUTIVE THINKING
IN DEVELOPMENT OF GLOBAL OPERATIONS STRATEGY
Problem:
A large corporation with an international presence,
seeing the need to rethink their global operations
strategy, engaged Fulcrum to challenge and invigorate
internal thinking during the process. Recognizing
that the role of operations is to capacitate profitable
delivery of competitive advantage, the team reviewed
the appropriateness of existing strategies in meeting
changing market, financial and legal expectations.
Solution:
Utilizing the wealth of information available through
pareto analysis, we defined 3 - 4 key strategies
with priorities for each unit of operations. We
verified that the strategies support the overarching
horizon goals, we analyzed resources required and
available to ensure the strategies are executable,
and we reviewed and modified metrics to ensure they
are complementary across units.
Result:
While the proof is in the pudding, top management
confidence in the strategies resulted in authorization
to move forward.
